Dance & Design Residency in Orillia

From January 21 to 26, 2023, BoucharDanse participated in Dance & Design Residency in Orillia, with très loin. Choreographer Sylvie Bouchard worked with visual artist Ed Pien, dancers Sierra Chin Sawdy, Raelyn Metcalfe, Natasha Poon Woo and Lucy Rupert, and with stage manager Patrick Lynn, to explore the relationship between dance and visual art.

We would like to wholeheartedly thank Kate Hilliard from Arts Orillia, as well as the wonderful team at the Orillia Opera House for hosting this glorious residency, and for supporting the creation of très loin.

Tedd Robinson

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the loss of Tedd Robinson, a cherished collaborator and dear friend.

I am adding to the beautiful messages and tributes... caught between the absolutely beautiful moments spent in Tedd Robinson’s company, his deep compassion, his love for laughter and sharing, his generosity, his desire to really get to know people, and the deep sorrow of his sudden departure. Saying goodbye is hard, it is an immense loss, and I feel so deeply privileged to have spent time with him.

You are gone, Tedd, but your presence will forever remain in the hearts, spirit, and bodies of so many. I will never forget your kind and engaging presence, your care, and your generous heart.

- Sylvie Bouchard

BoucharDanse acknowledges that we have the incredible opportunity to live and work on this land which is the territory of the Huron-Wendat, the Anishinaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and most recently, the Mississauga’s of the Credit First Nation. Today, the meeting place of Tkaronto is also home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. We are grateful to be able to live, work, dance and grow on Turtle Island, a sacred land that has been a site for human activity for over 15,000 years.
