Gerry Trentham

Over his 30-year career Gerry Trentham has been acclaimed throughout North America and Europe for roles he originated in many of Canada’s most prominent choreographies including works during his seven-year tenure with Serge Bennathan’s Dancemakers. As founder and Artistic Director of pounds per square inch performance, he has written, choreographed and directed over 30 works including the Dora Mavor Moore nominated Four Mad Humours. His present creation includes The Art of Peace in residence at Toronto’s Fort York and the Apology Project with Pennsylvanian visual artist Kaersten Colvin Woodruff. With an MFA in Theatre and Graduate Voice Diploma from York University, he has taught through North America, Australia and the UK. As a core faculty member of Canada’s National Voice Intensive for over 19 years, as voice director of Eunoia, and with Denise Fujiwara in their new frontier of butoh/voice training, he investigates the synthesis of voice, movement, performance and written creation. He is honored to be amongst some of Canada’s most celebrated dancers performing Denise Fujiwara’s Dora nominated Eunoia.
