Summary

Created in collaborative artistic partnership with visual artist Ed Pien, composer Phil Strong, dramaturge Anne-Marie Donovan and with dancers Michael Caldwell, Luke Garwood, Molly Johnson and Meredith Thompson, très loin explores how trauma affects us and how resilience is built through journeys of recovery. It looks closely at how our mind and body deal with the consequences of trauma, but most importantly, it  portrays the incredible strength and perseverance needed to come out of these experiences.

One of the ways our body chooses to deal with trauma is through Dissociation / Dissociative disorders. Dissociation causes a lack of connection in a person’s thoughts, memory and sense of identity. The ethereal quality of this state, and the relentless struggle to remain whole and in one’s body, is translated into choreography, music and visual images.  Each success in regaining body/mind integration will be felt, and each attempt celebrated.
